Indian persecution of Christians

In India, there is an Hindu nationalist group that wants India to be an all Hindu country because being Indian is equal to being Hindu.

That drives these Hindus to persecute our brethren in Christ (and by extension all other non-Hindus).

David Wood goes into more detail on this issue:

Disturbing trends on our Persecuted Brethren

I just downloaded this World Watch List from Open Doors yesterday (or the day before) and here David Wood, a brother in Christ, reviews it. Take a look and watch for yourself:

Three Christian Teachers Murdered in Kenya

Muslims are commanded to attack and kill non-Muslims according to the Muslim Holy book:

Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the Religion of Truth, from among the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizyah with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued. Sura 9:29

O Prophet! strive hard against the unbelievers and the hypocrites and be unyielding to them. Sura 9:73

Surely Allah has bought of the believers their persons and their property for this, that they shall have the garden; they fight in Allah's way, so they slay and are slain Sura 9:111

Sadly some muslims take these commands seriously:

01/13/2020 Washington D.C. (International Christian Concern)International Christian Concern has learned that three Christian teachers from Kamuthe Primary School in Garissa, Kenya, were killed by the Somali-based terror group al-Shabaab in the early hours of January 13, 2020. The armed militants ambushed Kamuthe village around 2:00 a.m., targeting the school’s resource center that hosted the teachers. Prior to the ambush, the attackers destroyed a telecommunication tool in an effort to paralyze communication as they carried out their heinous attack.

Mr. Robert Kibutu, a teacher who resides outside of the school’s residential area, confirmed the attack, saying, “My fellow teachers were fatally shot by an unknown number of suspected al-Shabaab militia who stormed Kamuthe primary school early this morning and leaving one severely injured by two gunshots. We are sad and at the same time scared because we are targeted for being non-local government workers that belong to the Christian faith.”
Those killed were Caleb Mutua, Titus Ushindi, and Samuel Muthui Kyonzu. Joshua Mutua survived with serious leg injuries.

According to the region’s security head, “One local teacher was taken away by the militants and a non-local female nurse [was] spared due to [her] gender.”

Today’s attack comes against the backdrop of a series of attacks from the terrorist group in the last five weeks, leading to the loss of 25 people total in Wajir, Lamu, Mandera, and Garissa. On December 6, 2019, four teachers were among the 11 non-local Christian passengers killed en route to Mandera from Nairobi when al-Shabaab flagged down the bus they were traveling in. The militants separated the passengers and killed those on the spot who failed to recite the Islamic Shahada.
Security intelligence agencies are warning of potential attacks in the coming days when Kenya marks the deadliest murder of its forces in El Adde, Somalia, on January 15, 2016, and the DusitD2 attack on January 15, 2019. It is common for al-Shabaab to commemorate anniversaries by carrying out more attacks(Continue).

I pray that God gives comfort and hope for the deceased teachers' loved ones.

I also pray that God gives my Kenyan brethren in Christ courage to share their faith in such a dangerous area.

13 Christians killed, four seminarians kidnapped in Nigeria

The Muslim holy book commands Muslims to attack and violently subjugate non-Muslims:

Fight those who do not have faith in Allah nor [believe] in the Last Day, nor forbid what Allah and His Apostle have forbidden, nor practise the true religion, from among those who were given the Book, until they pay the tribute out of hand, degraded. Sura 9:29

So we shouldn't be surprised when our brethren in Christ feel the brunt of persecution from them at all.

JOSNigeria (Morning Star News) – Armed Muslim Fulani herdsmen killed 13 Christians in Plateau state, Nigeria on Wednesday (Jan. 8), the same day four students were kidnapped from a Catholic seminary in Kaduna state.
About 20 herdsmen attacked the predominantly Christian village of Kulben, in Plateau state’s Mangu County, at about 8 p.m., area residents told Morning Star News. The 13 dead were all members of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), as were three people wounded in the assault, they said.
“They were shooting with guns in all directions, forcing the villagers to scamper into surrounding bushes,” area resident Michael Mutding, 40, told Morning Star News in a text message. “Corpses of those killed have been evacuated by soldiers and police to the mortuary of Mangu Cottage Hospital; and all the victims are members of COCIN.”
Bala Fwengje, a legislator representing the area in the Plateau State House of Assembly, said in a statement that the attacks came in spite of efforts by security agencies.
“This attack on my people by these herdsmen comes as a rude shock to us, as efforts have been made by security agencies to curtail such incessant attacks on our people,” Fwengje said. “It is a sad thing that these attacks are still being carried out by the herdsmen on our people without provocation.”
Audu Tetmut, a 60-year-old area leader of the Christian community, said there had never been any problem between his people and herdsmen living in the area.
“Our community had lived peacefully with the herdsmen without any issues of dispute with them,” Tetmut told Morning Star News. “So we are surprised that they attacked us(Keep reading).”
I pray that the 4 people kidnapped are found and returned to their families.

Puerto Rico earthquake: Roughly two-thirds of island without power amid dozens of aftershocks

While this post is not focused on persecution specifically like this blog is designed to do, I do believe keeping an eye on people who are suffering in other countries.

Guanica, Puerto Rico (CNN)Roughly two-thirds of Puerto Rico remains without electricity, many still don't have water and frightened residents were staying outside as a series of aftershocks rocked the island following a magnitude 6.4 earthquake.
The quake was the strongest and likely the most damaging of hundreds of temblors that have struck the island since December 28. It hit before dawn Tuesday, leaving a man dead and causing dozens of homes and structures to crumble.
It was centered off Puerto Rico's southern coast, 6 miles south of Indios. Gov. Wanda Vázquez Garced declared a state of emergency and activated the Puerto Rico National Guard as she pleaded with residents to remain calm and prepare for aftershocks.
Terrified of sleeping indoors as aftershocks continue, neighbors put mattresses in their front yards while others spent the night Tuesday under white tents and tarps.
Noelia de Jesus has been sleeping at an outdoors shelter with her granddaughters, terrified of returning to her Guanica home.
"I've been crying ever since it happened," de Jesus told CNN. "Everything is broken...the house is leaning to the right. If another (earthquake) comes, it's going to go down."
It's the third time that a natural disaster leaves her without a place to live. Like her, many Puerto Ricans lost their homes when Hurricane Maria hit the island two years ago and Hurricane George struck in 1998.
Guanica Mayor Santos Seda said about 50 homes were destroyed by the earthquake and at least 100 more were "about to collapse" on Wednesday.
Hundreds of aftershocks have hit the area in the past few days. As of Wednesday afternoon, the island in just 24 hours had experienced about 50 seismic events of magnitude 2.5 or higher, the US Geological Survey said.
4.7 earthquake was reported Wednesday afternoon off the southern coast of the island, about 8 miles southeast of Tallaboa, USGS said. The National Weather Service office in San Juan said there was no tsunami threat(Keep reading).

Having experienced days without electrical power in my home, I know what these people are going through and I hope that after a week has passed (this took place on the 8th of January) the people in Puerto Rico have gotten their power back.

I also hope that this tragedy causes people to 1) to come to know Christ as Lord and King or 2) grow closer to Christ if they already know Him as Lord and King.

New Year: A recap of the past two years

    Happy New Year everyone.

As you have all noticed. I was inactive for the entire year of 2019 on this blog. That's all about to change: Here is a recap of what has happened in late 2018 and all of 2019:

    1. Asia Bibi released

Normally, when it comes to persecution, there is always bad news. For once however, there is some good news and it is welcome
Asia Bibi was convicted and put on death row for Blasphemy back in 2009. Apparently she got into a heated discussion with some of the Muslims at a well and said,"Jesus is alive, Muhammad is dead." This caused the Muslims (as is the case in Pakistan) to call the cops and throw her in prison. She was released in October 2018 and she moved to Canada shortly afterwards.

    2. Bombing in Sri Lanka
On Easter, as our Sri Lankan brethren in Christ celebrated our Lord conquering death by rising from the grave, a Muslim got it into his mind that this was the perfect time to follow his prophet's command to attack non-Muslims, hence this attack:
Some leaders say this was in retaliation to an attack that happened in New Zealand which leads us to:

    3. Shooting at mosque in Christchurch, New Zealand
On March 15th, 2019, a white man went into a mosque and open fire killing numerous Muslims. He did it because he was concerned about the rapid birthrates of Muslims and that they would eventually outnumber the Caucasians.

While this blog is focused on the persecution of my brethren in Christ, I believe that all people regardless of whether they know Christ or not are made in the image of God and therefore attacking ANYONE of any faith is wrong. This blogger condemns this shooting.

    4. Rise of Christians in China

    More good news.

Due to Marxism (an ideology that believes God is a myth made up to oppress the poor) being the ideology that drive their government, China has been known to oppress Christians. This has not stop the number of saints from growing in that country as this article highlights (Read here)

    5. Imprisonment for Iranian Christians

9 Iranian Brethren in Christ were imprisoned on trumped up charges, due to participation in a home church earlier in the year of 2019 (between January 31 and February 23 to be exact). They were sentenced to 5 years of prison (Read more)

    6. Escape from Prison in North Korea

North Korea is the WORST place for anyone who names the name of Christ to live. Considering the hell, that countries like Saudia Arabia, Pakistan and Egypt put our brethren through that is saying something and yet we have another good news story of someone who escaped from prison in this article here (Read).

Why is this considered a Miracle? Well North Korea is known for having surveillance on people's private and public life. If someone is suspected of praying or reading the Bible they are sent to prison. There, they are tortured and put in solitary confinement. If one denies their faith, they are sent to a "re-education camp," where they are in poor living conditions, subjected to 12 hours of hard labor and if they are married to someone else, they are forced to divorce them. After a number of years, they are released.

If the prisoner refuses to recant their faith, they are sent to the kwanliso, otherwise known as the Korean political prison camp where they are used as test subjects for bio-weapons, assaulted by guards (physically and sexually). To say nothing about the forced labor, poor sanitation the inmates endure there.

That's what makes this escape from the prison a miracle.

So those are the highlights of what is happening with our brethren in Christ who are being persecuted all over the world.

I will make sure I post more regularly this year.

    Be blessed.
