Helping our persecuted brothers in Christ

I have posted a lot of posts up here on my blog in the first few days of its beginning. As you can see, our brethren are suffering horribly all over the world. As Western Christians, we should not turn a blind eye to the suffering of our brethren in other lands. Many think that the blood of the martyrs is the seed of the gospel. While that is true, we should remember that the population of Christians in certain places like Turkey, Algeria and Libya has dimished due to relentless persecution of Muslims in that area. Others argue that persecution is expected so we let it continue. This is very contrary to the example of the Apostle Paul, one Jesus Christ's greatest servants. Sometimes he fled; sometimes he suffered and endured; but sometimes he resisted. For example, when he was about to be whipped Paul said, "I am a Roman citizen, no one has the right to hand me over to them. I appeal to Ceasar!" So we must fight for the human rights of our brethren in persecuted countries.

Here are verses in the Bible where we as Christians are commanded to care for our persecuted brothers and sisters in Christ:

I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.
Matthew 25:36

Remember those who are in prison, as though in prison with them, and those who are mistreated, since you also are in the body.
Hebrews 13:3

Rescue those who are being taken away to death; hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter. If you say, "Behold, we did not know this," does not he who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not he who keeps watch over your soul know it, and will he not repay man according to his work?
Proverbs 24:11-12

Whoever closes his ear to the cry of the poor will himself call out and not be answered.
Proverbs 21:13

which our more presentable parts do not require. But God has so composed the body, giving greater honor to the part that lacked it, that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together.
1 Corinthians 12:24-26

Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.
Galatians 6:10

Pray for our persecuted brethren, my western brothers and sisters in Christ.
