Iran: Freedom for 3 Christians in Hamadan after 239 days of captivity

Three Iranian Christians, Sonia Keshish Avanesian, Arash Kermanjani and his wife Arezou Teimouri, who were arrested last September, were unexpectedly released from Hamadan prison on Saturday.

Well I praise the Lord Jesus Christ that these people were released from prison. They were released unexpectedly, meaning that this had to have been the hand of God at work. My brethren let's pray those still of our brothers and sisters in Christ  remaining in prison.

5/1/2011 Iran (Farsi Christian News Network) – As per reports received from the church in Iran, Mrs. Sonia Keshish Avanesian (wife of pastor Vahik Abrahamian) together with Mr. Arash Kermanjani and his wife Arezou Teimouri,  who were arrested together on 4 September 2010, were set free from Hamadan state prison on Saturday 30th April 2011, after 239 days of captivity.

On 28th April both couples were taken to court where their appointed lawyers were allowed to present their defense at length. Subsequent to the court hearings the judge ordered their release and they were unexpectedly set free! It is yet unknown (and extremely distressing for his wife Sonia who is now free) why Pastor Vahik has been held back in prison.

Iranian Christians plead with all saints to carry on praying for the  release of Pastor Vahik and many other Christians held in various  prisons. On the evening of Sep.10th; 2010; The official Islamic Republic of Iran’s Television; broadcast images from a small demonstration of a number of people in Hamadan, IRIB quoting an Intelligence Ministry’s source, said that two persons of foreign Evangelical organizations in Hamadan, and 7 Iranian accomplices have been identified and arrested. The news was read in such a way as to suggest that the two were foreign nationals, engaged in formation of an illegal underground organization against the people of Iran.

A couple of months later, the arrested people have identified, all Iranians without any non-Iranian name amongst them, proving the news broadcast baseless. Four of the arrested; Mr. Vahik Abrahamian and his wife Sonia Keshish-Avanesian, Mr. Arash Kermanjani and his wife Arezo Teymouri, they were detained at Abrahamians’ residence by the agents of The Ministry of Intelligence on the same day (04 Sep.2010).
