Egypt: What is the Muslim Brotherhood?

(Words in Italics mine)
6/21/2011 Egypt (CBN) – Ever since former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak fell earlier this year, the Islamist Muslim Brotherhood gained a much higher profile within Egypt. During Egypt's revolution, they pretty much stayed out of the spotlight, but after Mubarak's fall, they've become more and more visible and very active politically. They stand poised to capture a significant portion of the seats in Egypt's parliament.

But who is this formerly outlawed group? What are their goals? What's their history?
The Meir Amit Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center published an overview of this group that is playing a pivotal role in the new Egypt and the emerging Middle East.
Here's an excerpt from their overview:

"The Muslim Brotherhood is an Islamic mass movement whose worldview is based on the belief that 'Islam is the solution' and on the stated aim of establishing a world order based on Islamic religious law (a caliphate) on the ruins of Western liberalism. (Source)

The Muslim brotherhood is also the parent organization of groups like Al-Qaeda, Hamas, Hezbollah and the Taliban. This group has also spawned Western Organizations like C.A.I.R. (Council on American-Islamic Relations), Muslim Student Association, ISNA (Islamic Society of North America). The goal of these Westernized Muslim organizations is to Islamize the West and America in particular from within. They do this without the use of guns or bombs.
